HCMC Membership Requirements and By-Laws
 
  1. Minimum age for acceptance as a Primary, Secondary and/or Associate member in this motorcycle club will be 21 years of age for all civilians, GEO employees, CCA employees, County, State, Provincial, Federal, Military Correction officers, and Department of Correction employees. As well as all Town, City, County, State, Provincial and Federal Law Enforcement Officers associated with the Department of Corrections.
  2. Minimum motorcycle engine size will be 600cc. Any make or model and style is acceptable. Motorcycle License and insurance is your responsibility and HCMC will not be held liable for your negligence.  Copies of valid Motorcycle license and insurance must be given to your Chapter President along with your application for membership. No exceptions.
  3. Primary memberships requires full time employment with your Department of Corrections. Traditionally, prospects for an MC can wait three months before receiving acceptance by the majority members of the club and receive their patches/colors. In this MC, a prospective member will have to have been employed with the DOC for six months before applying for membership. Most facilities have a six month probation period before being accepted as a Correction Officer. This also gives the other MC members ample time to know and accept you. After six months you have done your time and paid your dues above and beyond any civilian job.  Your first six months on the job is the hardest time in your career in Corrections.  If you make it six months "Behind the Wall" as a C/O then you can make it as a Hard Chargers Motorcycle Club member! C/O's with less than 6 months employment and more than 3 months can apply for Associate membership until they are eligible for Primary membership. Chapter President has finally decision on acceptance of new member.  Primary members will wear the designated Chapter's bottom rocker.
  4. Official positions within this MC to be held by Primary members only. Chapter Presidents decision is final. Home office most be consulted before decision is made on exceptional Secondary member cases.

    Associate members can hold Road Captain and Sergeant at Arms positions when no other Primary or Secondary member will voluntarily take the open position. Official position to be filled at the discretion of the Chapter President only.

  5. Retired DOC employees with 20 years or more of service are eligible for Primary membership. Chapter President has final decision.
  6. Secondary membership is comprised of any non-correction officer, full-time employees with 6 months minimum employment with the Department of Corrections, extensions of the DOC or agencies/departments that work with the DOC and its population on a full-time basis. Examples are Administration, Medical, Counselors, Religious services, non-correction officer Community Services, Court personnel, etc. Any of these potential members with less than 6 months and more than 3 months can apply for Associate membership until they are eligible for Secondary membership. Chapter President has final decision on acceptance of new member.  Secondary members will wear the designated Chapter's bottom rocker. Home office must be consulted before decision is made on exceptional cases for a Secondary member to be considered as a Primary member.
  7. Retired and former DOC employees are eligible to Secondary membership.  Retired C/O’s with more than 10 years of service mu less than 20 years are eligible for Secondary membership.  Former employees who resigned and are now employed with another line of law enforcement are eligible for Secondary membership at the Chapter where they were employed.  Former DOC employees must have resigned under honorable conditions to be considered for membership.  Chapter President has final decision.
  8. Any Secondary member with a minimum of three months membership who decides to change their employment status and become a full time correction officer will automatically have their membership status changed to Primary membership and receive all benefits and privileges associated with Primary membership.  Confirmation is completed by the Chapter President and submitted to Home Office.
  9. Associate membership is comprised of family and friends of the Primary and Secondary members only. Any Primary member can sponsor and submit the membership application on behalf of four (4) immediate family members. Any Primary member can submit the membership application for up to four (4) very close friends. Any Secondary member can submit the membership application for up to two (2) immediate family members. Any Secondary member can submit the membership application for up to two (2) very close friends. The Chapter President will introduce the potential Associate member at the next available meeting where the majority of the members can meet and greet the prospective new member. This is where the members can ask reasonable and honorable questions of the new prospect. When prospect is accepted by the majority of HCMC members, the Chapter President will sign his/her approval on the prospect's membership form and send it into Home Office. Chapter President has final decision.
  10. NOMAD members are full members of the club who, because of distance, are unable to be a member of an established chapter. They have full rights and entitlements as any member. 

  11. Associate members start out with a NOMAD bottom rocker or the designated use bottom rocker at the discretion of the Chapter President. If the new Associate member receives a NOMAD bottom rocker, then their probationary period will be the traditional three (3) months. Chapter President or a designated Club official will then take a vote among the members to accept (or extend the probationary period) the probate and allow him/her to wear the designated Chapter's bottom rocker.

  12. Associate member with a minimum of six months membership who decides to change their employment status and become a Correction Officer will automatically have their membership status changed Primary member and receive all benefits and privileges associated with Primary membership. Confirmation and acceptance is completed by the Chapter President and submitted to Home Office.

    Supporter membership is at the discretion of the Chapter President This position is created for those who want to give support to this Motorcycle club. They can fall under the following categories: A.) A constant companion/rider of a member, B.) A potential, Associate member who is under the age of 21 and owns a motorcycle, C.) Does not own a motorcycle, but willing to travel on Chapter runs, functions, and/or events to support their Chapter in a vehicle. Supporter members will not be allowed to wear the LE and MC patches. Supporter member's bottom rocker will read SUPPORTER.

  13. Membership in other Motorcycle clubs are acceptable as long as the member can prove that this club is his/her primary club and the others will not interfere with HCMC runs and functions.
